Automation Factory Building Open World Base Building Procedural Generation Sandbox Third Person Crafting Co-Op Exploration Resource Management Trains Sci-fi Early Access

Belts of Iron is an open world, third-person, factory automation game set in a fully procedural world with combat, base building, and a touch of survival. Developed by a solo developer, the game is built openly with active community involvement.

Explore vast procedurally generated worlds where every playthrough offers something new. Venture off in search of rich resource deposits, uncover unique landscapes, and share your favorite world seeds with friends. But beware - native hostile creatures roam the planet, so you'll need to be prepared!

Build sprawling factories that stretch across the terrain, connected with miles of conveyor belts. Merge and split belts of items to optimize production lines and keep your factory running at peak efficiency. From simple smelters to complex oil refineries, every machine pushes your automation further as you expand your industrial empire!

  • Procedural World: Explore a vast procedurally generated world every time you play. Find and share your favorite seed with friends.
  • Factory Machines: Design and optimize automated production lines with various machines to craft even more items.
  • Conveyor Belts: Organize miles of conveyor belts throughout your factories. Merge and split belts to balance and optimize efficiency.
  • Power Management: Establish and expand an electrical grid to fuel your growing factory.
  • Fluids & Pipes: Build and connect pipelines to transport fluids and gases between buildings.
  • Trains: Layout rail networks to transport goods across vast distances easily.
  • Base Defense & Combat: Craft weapons, automate turrets, and build defenses to fight off hostile creatures.
  • Co-Op: Survive and build alongside friends in LAN or online multiplayer.

Why Early Access?
My vision for Belts of Iron is ambitious and it will take time to get to a point where I consider it finished. Early Access allows me to get the game into players' hands to gather feedback and steadily improve it over time.
How long will it be in Early Access?
Belts of Iron will remain in Early Access until I believe it is ready. I expect this to take at least a year, but it may be longer depending on how much content and polish is added.
What is the current state of the game?
The core gameplay loop is functional. You can build factories, automate production, explore a procedural world, and fight enemy creatures. The game is fairly stable but you should expect some unfinished features, placeholder graphics, and rough edges.
How will the full version differ?
Plans include trains for long distance transportation, drones for shorter logistics, more varied enemies, a player jetpack, new weapons, more power generators, lots of new base building pieces, updated graphics and UI, and more.
Pricing
The price will increase with major updates and again at full release. Currently $15 USD on itch.io.
